Virginia Beach in winter means whale watching, restaurant week, great shopping and more!

From December though mid-March, visitors can embark on a wildlife watching adventure, sponsored by the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center. See humpback and fin whales in their natural habitat as they migrate off the coast of Virginia Beach. Humpback whales have made their trip along the shores of Virginia Beach for more than a decade, weighing up to 70 tons and ranging up to 85 feet long.  The fin whale also migrates along the Virginia Beach coast boasting speeds of up to 23 mph. Marine life sightings are incredible, with Whale sightings our number one goal. You may also see brown pelicans, northern gannets, double-crested cormorants and other sea birds, all of which make a dramatic show while feeding on schools of fish.

Winter Wildlife Boat Trips are available from late December through March at the Virginia Beach Fishing Center at Rudee Inlet. (Calendar)

"Striped Bass Capital of the World" - that's what you can call Virginia Beach these days. Come see why when you book a charter and ride the Atlantic waves to fisherman's glory.

While in Virginia Beach, indulge your appetite with delectable cuisine during Virginia Beach's Annual Restaurant Week. Participating Virginia Beach restaurants will offer three-course prix-fixe meals at special prices. Enjoy pan-seared tuna, lump crab cakes, fresh rockfish and she-crab soup at the places that know seafood best. Hosted by the Virginia Beach Restaurant Association, this event is a culinary extravaganza of some of the finest cuisine Virginia Beach has to offer.

For those who love the nightlife, be sure to check out the new downtown area, Town Center, which spans 17 city blocks offering a variety of sophisticated restaurants and nightclubs, as well as exciting stores and boutiques.

Sit back and relax during one of the many spa packages Virginia Beach offers. The Flowering Almond Spa at The Founders Inn is a full-service, resort-style spa that features 10,000 square feet of luxury and personalized spa services to make anyone feel truly relaxed.

Virginia Beach is a premier East Coast destination for golfers every season of the year. The resort city features top-rated golf courses designed by such world famous course architects as Fred Couples, Arnold Palmer, and the legendary Pete Dye.
