This much over looked Civil War campaign was Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's last offensive campaign during the war and set the stage for the arrival of Gen. Ulysses Grant to the Union Army.

The 1863 battle was the culimination of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee's last offensive campaign of the Civil War.
