The Dinwiddie Sports Complex opened for business in June of 2011. The facility currently houses a football stadium, 3 NCAA/High School level championship sized softball fields, a full sized Babe Ruth baseball field, and a soccer stadium currently under construction (set to open in the fall of 2012). All the athletic fields are planted with Bermuda grass, are fully irrigated, and are equipped with state-of-the-art Musco Lighting system. In its first year, the complex housed four Dixie Girls Regional Softball Championships, as well as the Appomattox Recreation Youth Football League Championships. Currently, in the complex's first spring season, the complex is slated to host the Dixie Softball Ponytails (11-12 year olds) State Tournament, as well as the Dixie Baseball Minors Regional Tournament. In addition, multiple middle school and recreational games and practices are held nightly at the site. The complex also features a full concrete concourse, seating for thousands of spectators, a full service concession building, and the Parks, Recreation, and Tourism offices.
