Big Stone Gap - June 20-22, 27-29 - Trail of the Lonesome Pine - Trail of the Lonesome Pine Outdoor Drama is Virginia's Official Outdoor Drama and the third longest running in the nation.
Breaks - June 21-23 - Echoes in the Canyon Civil War Re-enactment - This annual event highlights the Civil War in southwest Virginia. Exhibits and demonstrations of Civil War era ways of life, as well as battle re-enactments can be seen during this event.

Richmond - June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 - Sunday Summer Reenactments of Patrick Henry's "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" Speech - The Patrick Henry Committee invites you to bring your friends and family to a free, public reenactment of the Second Virginia Convention of March of 1775. In the presence of over 100 of colonial Virginia's leaders, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Richard Henry Lee, Patrick Henry defended liberty, uttering the immortal words, "Give me liberty or give me death!"
Chester - June 2 - History & Nature Pontoon Boat Tours of the James River - Participate in 45-minute tour on the Discovery Barge II, a covered 24-foot pontoon boat captained by Mike Ostrander of Discover the James.
Bedford - June 6 - National D-Day Memorial- 69th Anniversary of D-Day - Spend the 69th anniversary of D-Day at the National D-Day Memorial where valor, fidelity, and sacrifice are honored throughout the year.

Charlottesville - June 14-16 - Kids Go Fish! -During this three-day event, kids age 12 and under will be allowed to fish the Saunders-Monticello Trail Pond. This is the only time during the year that anyone is allowed to fish in the pond. So bring your own fishing poles and equipment for this catch-and-release only event.
Lynchburg - June 15 - Lynchburg Launch of the James River Batteau Festival - Watch the launch of the fleet of replica batteaux on their eight day journey down river. Activities, music, canoe race, historic demonstrations and period food.
Richmond - June 15 - Richmond Raiders vs. Louisiana Swashbucklers - Richmond Raiders indoor football is fast-paced, high-scoring fun for the whole family!
Charlottesville - June 16-21 - 17th Annual Historic Landscape Institute - This one-week course will use the gardens and landscapes of Monticello and the University of Virginia as outdoor classrooms for the study of historic landscape preservation. Lectures, workshops, field trips, and practical working experiences will provide an introduction to the fields of landscape history, garden restoration, and historical horticulture.
