    Lynchburg - June 6 - National Donut Day - In honor of National Donut Day, the Cemetery will be handing out donuts and offering free tours of the Station House Museum.

    Bedford - June 6-8 - National D-Day Memorial- 70th Anniversary of D-Day - Spend the 70th anniversary of D-Day at the National D-Day Memorial where valor, fidelity, and sacrifice are honored throughout the year.

    Bedford - June 7 - D-Day Parade - Bedford along with the National D-Day Memorial will host a 1940s parade on the morning of June 7th. Antique cars, bands, veterans, living historians and more.

    Columbia - June 7-8 - Rassawek Spring Jubilee Wine & Heritage Festival - Rassawek Spring Jubilee is a two-day celebration that showcases 10 local wineries for tastings. Historical exhibits and artisan demonstrations, crafts vendors, music and food.

    Richmond - June 13 - Rockn' to Lockn' - Rockn to Lockn Festival - A battle of the bands contest for a chance to perform in the can't miss jam/rock music festival of the summer.

    Altavista - June 14 - Made in the Shade Craft Beer Festival at Avoca - We will offer Virginia beers along with Avoca’s bake sale, and food. Local vendors offer a variety of wares to shop while listening to live music.

    Charlottesville - June 19-22 - Summer Jefferson Symposium - The Summer Jefferson Symposium is a four-day historical learning experience. It includes on Grounds housing (optional), a visit to Montpelier and Barboursville Vineyards, and more!

    Louisa - June 21-22 - Battle of Trevilian Station - 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Trevilian Station Reenactment brings three on-field battles, living history demos and more!



    Shenandoah Valley

    Buchanan - June 7 - Botetourt Children's Annual Fishing Carnival - Botetourt Children's Fishing Carnival will be held Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 9-1 PM at the Buchanan Fairgrounds on Lowe Street in Buchanan, Virginia.

    Grottoes - June 7 - Grand Caverns Heritage Day - Heritage Day will include The History Mobile, 150th Panel Display, civil war encampments, living history exhibits throughout the day, craft vendors and demonstrations, and a candlelight tour and authentic ballroom dance in the evening. Ticket sales for the candle light tour and ball will be limited to the first 100 people and advance reservations are required.

    Salem - June 7 - Shrimpfest - Shrimpfest, a celebration with live music and shrimp.

    Harrisonburg - June 8-15 - Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival-Eastern Mennonite University - Hear musical masterpieces by Bach and other composers in a week-long summer music festival devoted to promoting an appreciation and understanding of outstanding music.

    Hot Springs - June 13-15 - Virginia Blues & Jazz Festival - Annual Virginia Jazz and Blues Festival held at the Garth Newel Music Center in the Allegheny Highlands of the Shenandoah Valley.

    Cleark Brook - June 27-29 - Hogging Up BBQ & Music Festival - Friday and Saturday there's a Kansas City Barbeque Society State Champshionship competition but also a featured BBQ Tour, to the public (2 stops Friday, 3 stops Saturday) where the professionals will TALK to the public in show and tell sessions! Saturday will have a People's Choice and Sunday a backyard BBQ competition for adults and kids!

    Williamsburg - June 12 - Virginia Symphony: Schubert's Unfinished - The Virginia Symphony will undertake Schubert's Unfinished Symphony as well as Brahms' Concerto for Violin and Cello performed by Yun Zhang and Michael Daniels under JoAnn Falletta.

    Norfolk - June 20-22 - Annual AT&T Bayou Boogaloo & Cajun Food Festival - The Annual AT&T Bayou Boogaloo & Cajun Food Festival delivers the heart and soul of Louisiana to visitors of Town Point Park in true Cajun style. From New Orleans to Norfolk, two stages featuring national recording artists provide musical entertainment for the weekend. Also on hand will be many local New Orleans musicians and artists who are sure to get your hands clapping, feet two-steppin' and heart pumping throughout the weekend.

Music lovers from across the country make an annual pilgrimage for this talent-filled weekend that has become as much a social ritual as a weekend of entertainment.

    Smithfield - June 27-28 - Smithfield Olden Days - An old-fashioned festival in Smithfield's beautiful Downtown Historic District! Opening concert by the Rhondels & Car Show on Friday night. Activities all day Saturday including Historic Re-eanctments, Pagan River Raft Race, Ghost Walk, music, great food & artisans. The event is free & open to the public.



    Coastal Virginia - Eastern Shore

    Wallops Island - June 7 - Native American Tools and Flint Knapping Workshop - During the flint knapping workshop students will take a voyage back in time, learning the ancient skill of stone tool making.The flint knapping class will begin by looking into how rocks break. We will address the major rules for reduction. Working with Glass and Flint class participants will focus on the proper form and early stages of reduction which include percussion flaking, and bi-facing. The more advanced techniques including; pressure flaking and notching will be demonstrated by instructor and used depending on participant’s previous experience.Tools and materials will be provided and each student will receive a flint knapping tool kit to take home.

    Chincoteague Island - June 27-28 - Chincoteague Volunteer Fireman's Carnival - The Fireman's Carnival leads up to the world famous Pony Swim and Auction always held on the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday in July! Come enjoy the fun any and every Friday and Saturday from now until the end of July. NO SUNDAYS.

    Fairfax - June 6-8 - Celebrate Fairfax! - The Celebrate Fairfax! Festival, Northern Virginia’s largest community-wide celebration, will return June 6-8, 2014 to the Fairfax County Government Center.

    Manassas - June 7 - Manassas Heritage Railway Festival - Attractions include nine elaborate model railroads; adult stage with live bluegrass and country bands throughout the day; children's stage with both professional entertainers and local talent, Thomas the Tank Engine Kiddie Train, kid's rides and face painting. The VRE Excursion Train ride to Clifton and back will be available this year! Tickets are $6.00 (children under 2 years old are free), and are available for purchase at the Visitors Center in the Old Town train depot.

    Randolph - June21-22 - Battle of Staunton River Bridge Commemoration Ceremony - Don't miss the 150th commemoration of the Battle of Staunton River Bridge. In June 1864, a small group of old men and young boys, along with Confederate regulars, defended the bridge against Federal cavalry. They repulsed the raiders, which allowed continued transport of supplies along the Richmond & Danville Railroad.
