History of Jefferson Pool www.thehomestead.com/history-of-the-waters

Legend has it that the springs were discovered by an Indian brave in the 1600's. Soon European Americans were frequenting the healing waters. By 1761 the first octagonal wooden building, built over the springs, was opened to the public. Warm Springs soon developed into a spa resort. Thomas Jefferson arrived in 1818 and stayed for three weeks, taking the water several times a day. The pools were named in his honor.

A separate ladies pool was opened in 1836. Mrs. Robert E. Lee was a frequent guest and the chair used to lower her into the water remains on display today.

You must be over 18 to use the pool. Family soaking hours available. Separate men and women facilities. The pools are a must see on your trip to Bath County and are an historical landmark. Open Seasonally.

Admission Fee: $17.00 soak
