Mathews Memorial Library has been awarded the 2005 National Award for Library Service, the nation’s highest honor for extraordinary public service provided by a library. The Chesapeake Room and Hollerith Archives contain published works, history and genealogy files, maps and special collections of rare documents and photographs pertaining to the county. The archivist accessions new material, responds to inquiries concerning historical matters, and makes references on genealogical inquiries.
