Greenies, open since 1930, is a vestige of the bad old decades when Ocean View had a reputation for seedy hotels and barroom brawls.

As the area has gentrified, the crowd has shifted to more mainstream. Thankfully, a slight edge endures.

Happy hour runs weekdays from 4 to 7 p.m. We don't recommend the indoor bar, which is as dark as a drainpipe. Instead, opt for the sun-baked deck, a scant 100 feet from the Chesapeake Bay, where a sisterhood of waitresses wearing hot pink tank tops keeps everyone fed and watered.
