"Casual food and fun in Downtown Harrisonburg" is the billing for Pennybackers. Their historic 2-story building dates back to the 1850s when it was used as a carriage house or tavern. One of the early owners was Derrick Pennybacker, hence the name.
Inside are exposed brick walls, light pine paneling, wrought iron lamps, and a lowkey yet sophisticated rustic ambiance with booths and small tables. Framed local vintage postcards line the walls. Rooftop dining will be fun in the summer.
Their menu is simple yet imaginative: an array of generously made sandwiches, salads, soups, and desserts. All meats, cheeses, and breads are top quality garnished with only the freshest of ingredients. A menu of unique wines and bottled beers is sure to please the conneisseur.
Open 7 days a week. Monday-Saturday 11am-10pm; Sunday 11am-9pm.
