Dining at Prospect Hill Plantation is an unusual culinary experience. Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy a complimentary refreshment while acquainting themselves with their fellow diners, our gardens, parlors, and wine cellar. For over twenty years, the dining experience at Prospect Hill has begun the same way -- the innkeeper's bell announces the start of a five-course repast created by the inn's talented culinary staff.
The Sheehan family has continued a tradition that goes back to 1874 when the Overton family first started taking guests in after the Civil War. Once all have chosen an intimate table, your host explains the menu for that evening and the (optional) wine recommendation (special diets are always accommodated), warm bread just out of the oven is served, and the meal begins.
