Oysters and chowder and shrimp, oh boy! It’s the Virginia Living Museum’s third annual Oyster Roast. Enjoy fresh local oysters from the Rappahannock, plus all-you-can-eat seafood: oysters, shrimp, fish and hush puppies prepared by the Mathews Lions Club. There will also be chowder and vegan selections by Waypoint Seafood & Grill, soft drinks and coffee, plus two drink tickets for beer, wine and hard cider. Craft beer will be provided by St. George Brewing Co. Dessert will be prepared by Stratford University culinary students. World Champion Oyster Shucker Deborah Pratt will demonstrate her lightning fast shucking skills. There will also be music by Colonial DJs and acoustic guitarist Louis Vangieri. Enjoy raffles and stargazing after dark (weather permitting). Last year's Oyster Roast was voted Best in the 757 for Outdoor Festival by Coastal Virginia Magazine. The event is presented by TowneBank and sponsored by Ferguson, Pomoco, Phillips Energy, CA Barrs, Waypoint Seafood and Grill, Mathews Lions Club, FM99, 106.9 The Fox, Abbitt Realty, National Exterminating Co., Virginia Health Services and Empower Information Systems.
