Saturday June 7th Butterfly Awareness Day- 10:00- 5:00 The Association for Butterflies has designated the first Saturday of June as Butterfly Awareness Day. We hope you take a few moments to celebrate these important pollinators and environmental indicators with us. On Butterfly Awareness Day we would like to share with you how BAD it would be if we didn't have the marvelous insect, Butterflies. Without butterflies there would be a dramatic loss in pollination necessary for plants from tiny flowers to giant trees reproduction as well as fruit and seed for other animals and humans to eat. Unfortunately, habitat destruction is Public Enemy Number 1 for our native butterfly populations. Overuse of pesticides, herbicides and exotic monocultures of plants are contributing to the decline of many butterfly species. .Please, join us at Flying Flowers for a variety of activities including a walk through the butterfly house. We will have plants and butterfly pupae for sale, too.By learning about the butterfly life cycle you can learn about which of these Flying Flowers are living in your gardens.
Admission Fee: $5.00 for adults
