Since 1980, the "Autumn Potpourri" festival (better known as the Callands Festival) has taken place on the first Saturday of each October. The event takes place at the site of the old Callands Clerk's Office and the location of the original courthouse. Thousands of people attend the event, and hundreds of crafts and goods can be purchased and viewed. Various historical interpreters can be found roaming the festival grounds.

This festival was named a Local Legacy of American Folk Life and Culture by the Library of Congress in 2000.  Mingle among Revolutionary and Confederate re-enactors; experience demonstrations by local craftsmen and period musicians; purchase hand-crafted items and traditional foods at a leisurely pace.

Admission and parking are free at this 1767 complex of Historic Landmark court buildings, the first site of local government in Pittsylvania County.  Located on Sago Road just off Route 57 West, the Callands community is ten miles from Route 29 in the Town of Chatham, north of the City of Danville and east of the City of Martinsville.
