Walk in the footsteps of McGowan's Brigade on Montpelier's Civil War Trail, which begins at a reconstructed portion of a Confederate encampment and concludes at the restored farm of George Gilmore, a Montpelier-born slave who was freed after Emancipation.  Begins at the parking lot across Route 20 from the Montpelier Station Train depot.
