Dulcimer players from near and far will gather for the 8th Annual Cumberland Gap Dulcimer Gathering in Wilderness Road Campground in Cumberland Gap National Historical Park in Lee County at the stunningly scenic tip of far southwest Virginia near the borders of Kentucky and Tennessee.  The crowd of campers typically begin arriving up to two weeks prior to the main two-day event.  The annual incoming crowd crescendos up past 200 participants before the grand finale Saturday evening concert in the amphitheater.  The Gathering offers workshops, pot-luck meals, lots of open jam sessions, and the Saturday evening performance in the campground amphitheater. The campground has 160 sites in a beautiful wooded setting. Electrical hook-ups are available at 41 of the sites. Hot showers and potable water are located in the nice big clean comfort stations.  Nature trails connect to the campground.  Workshops typically feature dulcimer, ukulele, bowed psaltry, bowed saw, spoons, flat foot dancing, mandolin, claw hammer banjo, and upright bass!  Mini-concert and jams on Friday.  Concert in the amphitheater on Saturday evening at 7:00pm.  Great music, good food, grand people, and delightfully warm hospitality all in a beautiful setting.  Enjoy the celebration of our Appalachian dulcimer heritage at the Cumberland Gap Dulcimer Gathering!
