The ninth annual Earth Day Staunton event is in full swing. This year we will have a fun, educational celebration of eco-related groups and activities in and around Staunton. These activities include live wildlife programs, hands-on exhibits and activities, free saplings to take home, native wildlife exhibits, native fish aquarium, stream critter touch-tank, face painting, solar gadgets, a solar telescope, a puppet show by Augusta County Library and other programs. In the past years, participants have included the Wildlife Center of Virginia's live animal program, Appalachian Trail Club, education activities by 4-H Nature Nuts, Solarize Augusta, Sigora Solar, Virginia Eagle recycling program, Native Plant Society, Shenandoah National Park, Nature Camp, Augusta Bird Club, and VA Depts. of Forestry, Game & Inland Fisheries.
This event is located in Downtown Staunton. Sponsored by Sigora Solar, Virginia Eagle Distributors, Lewis Creek Watershed Advisory Committee, Mary Baldwin College and The Spencer Center for Civic and Global Engagement, Valley Feed, Staunton Downtown Development Association, Staunton Parks and Recreation, Shenandoah Valley Stargazers, Augusta Bird Club, and Sunspots Studios.
