In Williamsburg, the quest for independence took its first steps. On the Fourth of July, we celebrate America’s freedom and the Declaration of Independence.
Celebrate the anniversary of the nation's birth in the Revolutionary City! Join Colonial Williamsburg for a special militia muster. Enjoy a salute to the 13 original states, featuring music performed by the Fifes and Drums, flags of each state, the firing of muskets and cannon. The day concludes with fireworks visible from both Market Square and Palace Green.
Free parking is available in the Colonial Williamsburg Regional Visitor Center parking lot and, throughout July 4, ride Colonial Williamsburg’s buses free.
Guests are invited to use white glow sticks to light up the night during the fireworks. Glow sticks are part of the Independence Day Souvenir Bags for purchase that also include a blanket, two refillable mugs and two hand-held flags. Market stands will be available throughout The Revolutionary City to purchase cold lemonade, pretzels, frozen treats, cookies and refillable mugs.
