Tuesday, March 11th, 4 to 9pm - a light dinner will be served. Conducted by winemaker Michael MacFarlan and owner Jeff Sanders, the class will cover vineyard management with an emphasis on grape quality, processing, fermenting, aging, and finishing both red and white grapes and wines. The viticulture overview will include challenges and opportunities here in Virginia. The course includes time in the cellar with information provided to help you better understand wines you taste and what goes into making a bottle of wine. We’ll discuss winemaking equipment, wine processing, variation in stylistic and quality considerations, choices to age wine.
The evening will end with a blending trial, small groups will be given a range of red wines and work to create their own blend. A light dinner will be provided.
