The City of Petersburg Department of Museums and Visitor Services will sponsor the annual “Historic All Hallows Eve” event at Blandford Cemetery, Thursday, October 31, from 6:00 p.m. until the final tour at 8:40 p.m. The focus of the evening’s hour-long guided walking tours will be the history of the cemetery and the accounts of some of the City’s most interesting permanent residents. Due to the 150th commemoration of the Petersburg Campaign, the tours will include the stories of local Civil War soldiers and civilians. The tours will also include the lives of Revolutionary War soldier Erasmus Gill, Victorian women Mary Logan and Nora Davidson, and War of 1812 soldier Captain Richard McRae.
Event parking will be available at the gravel lot across from the Farmer’s Market, next to the McIlwaine House (corner of Cockade Alley and River Street) in Old Towne, Petersburg. Tour participants will board a shuttle bus and be transported to the Reception Center at the cemetery. After arrival and check-in, tour guides will meet each scheduled group and proceed to the cemetery.
Reservations and ticket purchases must be made in advance at the Blandford Church Reception Center beginning October 1. Tour times will be staggered and will begin every twenty minutes starting at 6:00 p.m.
Admission Fee: $7 per person
