Butterfly Release/Monarch Tagging at Flying Flowers, Southwestern VA's only walk through Butterfly House, at 11:00 on Sat. Sept 20th.  Visitors will catch a Monarch and tag it as part of Monarch Watch, through the University of Kansas. This tag and the data collected allows it to be monitored on its migration to Mexico. Visitors will then release the Monarch from Flying Flowers as part of the activity. The structure is home to butterflies native to Virginia and all the necessary plants to sustain them. Monarchs, Swallowtails, Frittilaries and Dianas are a few of the inhabitants which will pose for your camera or land on your shoulder while strolling through the house. Tours and school groups are welcome by appointment- email ellen at Cost is $10.00 for adults children with adults free. Registration is required.
