The Portsmouth Museums are celebrating Halloween with a variety of magical, monstrous and frightfully fun activities to enjoy. The Portsmouth Museums include the Children’s Museum of Virginia, the Portsmouth Art and Cultural Center, the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum and the Lightship Portsmouth Museum. All activities are included with paid admission to the Portsmouth Museums.
At the Children's Museum of Virginia:
Noon - 6 pm
Hands-on Creepy Crafts
Face-Painting & Balloon Creatures
12:30 & 2 pm
Bat World - live bats and stories
2:30, 3:45 & 5 pm
Magical Performances with Harold Wood
The Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center will host a menagerie of live creepy crawlies, venomous serpents, and glowing scorpions from the collection of John Barnes (J.B. Rattles) out of North Carolina. Visitors can learn about these exotic animals, and decorate their own Monster Cookies with edible markers in the Art Annex, where the reptiles will be on display.
Crawl on down to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Museum to create your own luminaries and spyglasses and be sure to let the spooky storytelling slither into your ears.
Then fly over to the Lightship Portsmouth to join the "Ghost Guard" skeleton crew of the Frightship and help them take the ship back from the dreadful Moody Crewe pirates!
Admission Fee: $12.00 per person (for all ages) Combination Ticket to all four museums
