Get 'Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs' at the Narrows Kids Fishing Day, sponsored by the Town of Narrows, Giles County Sheriffs Department, and the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. Kids from ages 3 to 15 can experience a fun day of fishing in Wolf Creek. Fishing for younger children will begin at 9 AM and all participants can begin fishing at 10AM until 2 PM Registration begins at 8 AM. Please supply your own fishing equipment and bait-- there will be a limited number of 'loaner' fishing poles available. DGIF will be stocking the creek with fish for this event.
The first 300 children will receive free T-shirts (courtesy of James Hardie Building Products) and goody bags and will also be entered to win one of a wide assortment of prizes. An official weigh station will be on-site and trophies will be awarded in a variety of categories and age groups. There will be other activities throughout the event -- bounce houses, casting contest, etc. Carilion will be offering various activities and information on child safety. Food concessions will be available for purchase.
This is the 11th year for Kids Fishing Day and the event continues to be made possible through the generous support of the community and businesses in Giles County and throughout the New River Valley.
