Savor the flavor of the wines of Virginia's "Northern Neck", all in one afternoon, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Featuring the wines of the Chesapeake Wine Trail, the Northern Neck Wine Tasting Festival at Rice's Hotel / Hughlett's Tavern in Heathsville gathers 10 local wineries on the grounds behind this historic building, the last surviving 1700's era structure of its kind in the Northern Neck. Food will also be available for purchase; bottle sales continue through 5 p.m. Come early for Heathsville's Farmers Market, the first of the season, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Located on the adjacent grounds and pavilion, this monthly event includes a large offering of fresh local produce, baked goods, locally-raised lamb, poultry and pork, nursery plants, and locally-made handcrafts. The Tavern's active artisan groups will be on-site, working and selling their wares, including the Blacksmith Guild in the Tavern's Forge, Spinners and Weavers Guild, Quilters Guild, and Woodworkers Guild. The Tavern Gift Shop will also be open.
