Piedmont Virginia Community College will open two new exhibits on Friday, Jan. 23, with a free reception from 5-7 p.m. in the PVCC Gallery, located in the V. Earl Dickinson Building.
A Necessary Fiction features works by Michael Fitts and Kim Boggs, both local artists who use recycled objects in their work. Fitts is known for his photorealistic paintings of single objects carefully rendered on aged pieces of scrap metal. Boggs, a mixed-media artist, creates found object assemblages that turn bits and pieces of everyday life into a journey of surprise and wonder.
Summer of Love includes work by Leslie Wilkes, Michael Miller, Sheila Metcalf-Tobin and Amy Helfand. Curated by PVCC art faculty member Fenella Belle, this imaginative and charming group exhibition features a variety of media by these artists and long-time colleagues who share a love of color.
