The Yorktown Victory Center, a museum of the American Revolution, presents four evening lectures on Sept. 30 , Oct. 7, Oct. 28 and Nov. 4. The evening lectures, free to the public, include:

September 30: “Why Yorktown: A Geologic Perspective,” Dr. Gerald H. Johnson, College of William and Mary Geology Professor Emeritus. 

October 7: “The Importance of the Second War of Independence to America and the World,” Dr. George C. Daughan, award-winning author. 

October 28: “The Loyalist/Patriot Divide Among the Merchant Elite in Marblehead, Massachusetts,” Judy Anderson, social, architectural and cultural historian. 

November 4: “The Men Who Lost America,” Dr. Andrew O’Shaughnessy, the Saunders Director of the Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello and University of Virginia professor of history. 

The Tuesday evening public lectures begin at 7 p.m. in the Yorktown Victory Center's Richard S. Reynolds Foundation Theater. Admission to the lectures is free, and advance reservations are recommended at (757) 253-4572 or The series is supported by the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc.
