Lafayette RIVERFest, a free, outdoor celebration promoting the restoration of the Lafayette River, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2014. RIVERFest offers educational activities, fireboat rides, live music, children’s activities, local food vendors, a rain barrel auction, and the chance to become a River Star Home.
“Our community is making great progress bringing back the health of the Lafayette branch of the Elizabeth—in no small part because of the thousands who get involved through RIVERFest,” says Marjorie Mayfield Jackson, executive director of Elizabeth River Project, co-presenter of the festival along with the City of Norfolk and multiple sponsors and partners. This event is located in the 600-700 blocks of Mayflower Road, along the Colonial Place waterfront in Norfolk.
