The Russell County Fair and Horse Show is held annually the first week in September at the Russell County Fairgrounds in Castlewood, Virginia. The Russell County Fair and Horse Show features an array of events, something for everyone of any age to enjoy. Events include a carnival, pageant, award winning horse shows, draft horse pull, lawn mower races, ATV rodeo, bull riding, livestock events, horseless cowboy contest, ranch rodeo/team penning, demolition derby, antique tractor pull, truck pull, tough truck tug of war, pet agility, pet show, cornhole tournament, horseshoe pitch tournament, agriculture exhibits, photography exhibits, barn quilt square contest, and entertainment showcasing local and nationally known entertainers including country, bluegrass and gospel music performances. Special events for Veterans, Senior Citizens, Special Need Individuals, Classroom Field Trips and School Age Children.
Ridin', Rockin' & Livestockin is our 2016 fair theme with a new MOTOCROSS event on Saturday, September 3, 2016. Our 2016 Fair dates are September 2-10. Unlimited ride specials at the carnival on Wednesday, September 7th (6-10pm), Friday, September 9th (1-6pm) and Saturday, September 10th (1-5pm).
