This event celebrates Secretariat's birthday of March 30, 1970 at The Meadow. It will reunite the three men who rode "Big Red" at the peak of his racing career: Hall of Fame jockeys Ron Turcotte and Eddie Maple, along with exercise rider Charlie Davis. All are slated to appear, as well as Kate Chenery Tweedy, co-author of "Secretariat's Meadow - the Land, the Family, The Legend."
The festivities include: autograph sessions with the Secretariat team; extensive display of Secretariat merchandise and memorabilia; meeting local Secretariat descendants; tram tours of the historic farm; presentation of horses and hounds by the Caroline Hunt; pony rides for kids; local vendors selling Virginia products and much more.
Brand new this year is the Museum of the Virginia Horse and Meadow Champions Galleries in the Meadow Hall mansion, which is holding an Open House during the event.
At 5 pm, there will be a VIP reception with the Secretariat team and at 6 pm, a special screening of the film "Secretariat's Jockey - Ron Turcotte." The festivities conclude with a Champagne Birthday Toast at Secretariat's foaling shed with the Secretariat Team. Additional tickets are required for the special events.
