Everyone is invited to the 18th annual Lebanese Festival, held June 3, 4, & 5 at St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church, 4730 Cove Road, Roanoke, VA. The popular festival features delicious Lebanese food, along with live Lebanese music and Lebanese folk dancers in full costume. New this year will be “Dabke” (line dance) instruction and Lebanese cooking demonstrations.
WDBJ7 will sponsor the festival, held rain or shine, Friday and Saturday 11 a.m.-10 p.m., and 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. on Sunday. Admission and parking are free with a moderate charge for food and children’s activities.
Three new vegetarian dishes and a grilled chicken pita wrap will be introduced this year, with the “Feature Dish” being a lentil and rice combination. Other offerings include hummus, spinach-feta pies, falafel, grilled lamb and beef kabobs, and various desserts.
There will be a Silent Auction, plus Church Tours covering the rich history of Maronite Catholicism (one of the oldest churches within Christianity) showing stained glass windows and icons. “A Taste of Lebanon” area will display various ethnic items, pictures and facts about Lebanon.
