Blacksburg's annual Steppin' Out festival takes to the streets of the downtown every first weekend in August. From 10 am - 10 pm on both days, pedestrians fill the colorful village center to enjoy craft vendors, sidewalk sales, festival foods, and three stages of live entertainment. After 35 years, Steppin' Out remains perennially fresh. The annual Draper Run takes place on Friday evening, as the festival is just gearing up. The mile-long run includes a Fun Run for kids, a race, and a run thereafter. Three stages of performance include the main stage, which features national and regional acts performing everything from bluegrass to bhangra; an accoustic stage; and a community stage where local talent captures the spotlight. The festival features a Children's Area complete with inflatables and child friendly activities as well as a Canine Corral to keep your dogs happy while you enjoy the festival. Please note that Pets are not allowed within the festival area with the exception of Service Animals.
