In conjunction with the exhibit Changing Appalachia, the museum features artists from the mountain states, including those of Cherokee Indian Tribes from North Carolina. Admission to exhibits will be free, along with educational programming on the Cherokee artwork. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., husband-and-wife team Butch and Louise Goings will demonstrate traditional white oak basketry, woodcarving, and stone carving. Both are longtime artisands of traditional Cherokee Indian work, and have lived in Cherokee North Carolina all of their lives.
