The Great Bridge Battlefield & Waterways History Foundation invites you to the Annual Waterways Heritage Festival. Located on the Intracoastal Waterways in Chesapeake, VA the Festival is truly a rich celebration of Chesapeake's waterways and heritage. Several Guilds, exhibitors, and vendors from across the Commonwealth will be showcasing the skills, talents, and craftiness of people and their trades that have contributed to the establishment and development of this unique region. Exhibitors and vendors display, demonstrate, and sell handmade crafts including baked goods, basketry, beekeeping, doll making, fiber arts, fine art, fly fishing, fly tying, glassblowing, handbags, jams, jewelry, knitting, lamb cuisine, live music, living history and musket firing demonstrations, pottery, quilting, sewing, shaker boxes, sheep shearing, soap making, spinning, storytelling, weaving, wood-carving, and more.
This year we are honored to feature world renowned Fly Fishing Legend Lefty Kreh on Saturday October 8 and Virginia Coastal Fly Angler's joining us both days with Fly Fishing 101 and ongoing Fly Tying. Attendees will be able to enjoy free docent-led tours of historic Battlefield Park, the unique experience of traveling through the locks (weather permitting), and learning from Batteau and Canal Society members about the history of transportation through the liquid highways of yesteryear.
