The Town of Halifax will be hosting a day long celebration of the Banister River, as well as other forms of outdoor recreation, at the Wild Blue River Festival.
The Festival will be packed with outdoor recreation activities, music and so much more. An early morning adventure race will be followed by the official preview of the new Banister River kayak/canoe launch. The festival then really gets into gear at 11am. River Traders will be on hand at the Banister Lake offering canoes and kayaks for people to paddle around. Vendors and Gyotaku fish printing will be on the courthouse lawn. The Farmers Market will be alive with a 26' rock climbing wall, food, life sized games, corn hole, and a stage area. Two wildlife talks by the Wildlife Center of Virginia will be followed by chances to win gift cards from Mountain Khakis.
The Library Lawn will be transformed into a kids activity zone. Children will be able to participate in arts & crafts, casting practice, boat races, and more.
A shuttle will be on hand to transport festival goers to the river and lake access points.
Live music will follow the programs through to the end of the event.
