The Town of Halifax will be hosting a day long celebration of the Banister River, as well as other forms of outdoor recreation, at the 3rd Annual Wild Blue River Festival.
The festival will be located at the Kings Bridge Landing river access on the Banister River. The event kicks off with a kayak and canoe race, followed by an open paddle. The event will feature vendors and activities for the entire family. Additional information will be provided to register for the race or open paddle; please go to http://www.halifax-events.com/#!wildblueriverfestival/c250y for updates.
The night before, join us for the 2nd year of our unique stargazing experience! We will paddle the Banister Lake prior to sunset to watch for wildlife and wait for the stars to emerge. Halifax County is home to some of the darkest skies on the east coast, and nearby Staunton River State Park was designated the 25th Dark Sky Park in the world by the International Dark Sky Association (IDA).
