Chincoteague Island

Chincoteague Island, Virginia's only resort island, is perhaps the most beautiful island on Virginia's Eastern Shore. World famous for its oyster beds and clam shoals, Chincoteague is the gateway to the Assateague Island National Seashore and the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Adventure awaits everywhere as history and legend blend with the wild loveliness of the seasonal shore. This serene fishing village, seven miles long and one and one-half miles wide and abounding with history and natural charm, welcomes you to explore its unique island heritage.

Enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, biking, miles of pristine beaches, and ecotours.  Dine on the sea's bounties in waterfront restaurants or pack a picnic basket to savor on the sand.  Fine art galleries showcase the many talented artisans on the island.  Decoy carving, a job-related skill turned artform, is at the heart of Chincoteague Island and fine examples can be found in many local shops.  An Art Deco movie theater provides a glimpse into the past while offering the current thrillers for your inside time.

Come explore the islands........Discover the Spirit of Chincoteague Island!
