Norfolk is a participant in the Virginia Civil War Trails program that links over 250 sites located throughout the Commonwealth. Visitors can trace Norfolk's Civil War heritage by visiting sites including Fort Norfolk, the historic Freemason District and the West Point Monument at Elmwood Cemetary that honors African Americans who served during the Civil War.
