Are you curious about the history of and the events that transpired in Martinsville-Henry County? Take a moment to step back in time and read about this area of land, just off of 220, that was used as a point of refuge.

The Fort Trial Historical Marker can be found off of Route 57- 6 miles north of Martinsville, just off of 220. Near here stood Fort Trial, one of a chain of forts built in 1756, in the French and Indian War. These forts were used as a place of refuge during Indian attacks.
