Nestled in the Blue Ridge Highlands of Southwest Virginia is Grayson County, Virginia. Grayson County is the perfect place to enjoy the stunning beauty and profound quiet moments that nature can provide. Home to the highest mountains in Virginia, Mount Rogers at 5,729' and Whitetop Mountain at 5,520', this upper New River Valley region is a naturalists' paradise.

Grayson County was formed in 1793 from part of Wythe County and was named for William Grayson, one of Virginia's first two senators. The first courthouse was built in Independence and served until 1904 when it was condemned. A new courthouse was completed by builder E.L.Robbins in 1908. Today, the Historic 1908 Courthouse functions as the art and cultural center of Grayson County.
