St. Paul’s Catholic Church has established a docent guild so visitors are able to tour this historic church, which is on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. Tours are scheduled to coincide with “Olde Towne First,” an Olde Towne Business Association venture that encourages people to enjoy activities the first weekend of every month. The church will be open 5-8 p.m. every first Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every first Saturday. The church will also open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every first and third Monday. Because this schedule is subject to change due to weddings and funerals, visitors are asked to call first to check on the status of the tour. In its 200-year history, five different churches have been built on the church’s present site at High and Washington streets. Its history dates back to 1804.
