Established in 1856, Ivy Hill Cemetery is the final resting place for more Confederate veterans than any other Alexandria cemetery. Among those buried at Ivy Hill are Frank Stringfellow, a noted spy and scout for Gen. Jeb Stuart, and C. S. Navy Capt. Sidney Smith Lee. Also buried there are Burton Harrison, who served as Jefferson Davis's private secretary, and Harrison's wife Constance Cary who made the first Confederate battle flag.
The Ivy Hill Cemetery Historical Preservation Society now conducts guided Civil War tours of Ivy Hill.
