The Jubal Early Homeplace and Archaeological Site is located just off Jubal Early Highway (VA 116) near Boones Mill. It was the home of General Jubal Anderson Early, born in Franklin County in 1816, who went through much of his childhood at the home and grounds nearby.

The original house is thought to have been built in the first decade of the 19th century (c. 1814), and enlarged after 1847. The two-story, 200 year old home has been preserved and refurbished, and now houses educational exhibits, portraits and artifacts that give visitors a look into the life of General Jubal Anderson Early. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Virginia Landmarks Register, and is one of two sites in Franklin County on the Virginia Civil War Trail.

The Jubal A. Early Homplace is owned and managed by the Jubal A. Early Preservation Trust, P.O. Box 638, Rocky Mount, VA 24151.

Guided tours are offered on Sundays from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Admission Fee: FREE to public
