Sunset Cemetery is the largest public burying ground for the town of Christiansburg. It started humbly as small family parcels in the early 1800's and was officially incorporated in 1879. It is situated on a gentle slope south of the town square and is well maintain and picturesque. Notably, many of the town's Confederate soldier are buried here. Soldiers from the 4th, 11th, 54th, and 63rd Virginia Infantry rest here. Some citizens of note that are located in the cemetery, include Captain Hamilton D. Wade, Colonel James M. Wade, and Dr. Ellett from the Montgomery White Sulphur Springs Hospital. The town now cares for the cemetery and records of those buried there can be requested. Hours: Dawn to Dusk
