Located in downtown South Boston’s historic warehouse district, The Prizery is Halifax County and South Boston’s Welcome Center, performing arts theatre, art gallery and community center. The Prizery features cultual events, theatre and musical performances and art exhibits. The Prizery also houses 'The Crossing of the Dan River' exhibit, which recounts General Nathaneal Greene's Revolutionary War success on February 14, 1781, often described as the beginning of the end for the Cornwallis-led British army.

The exhibit was one of the highlights in Halifax County's and Virginia's Jamestown 2007 Commemoration.
