The village of Waterford, Virginia, was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970, one of only three such landmarks in the U.S. The Waterford Foundation was formed in 1943 to restore and preserve the village. Waterford is well-known for its annual Homes Tour & Crafts Exhibit, Virginia's oldest juried crafts fair, held the first weekend in October.
