The original building on this site was constructed in 1777 by Commodore Walter Brooke who served in the Virginia Naval Forces during the Revolutionary War. The next two hundred years saw the plantation parceled off and sold, and the mansion enlarged and renovated.

Today the house sits in a 14-acre park and offers three separate rooms, a large formal entry hall with a quarter circular stair, screened porch, and full catering kitchen for your wedding or party of up to 90 or garden party of up to 150.
