Located in the picturesque Shenandoah Valley, The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum offers four floors of interactive, hands-on experiences for families, focusing on science, mathematics, humanities and the arts.
Explore the exhibits in natural history, paleontology, simple machines, and art-in-the-making. Pay a visit to the Artist in Residence in the Discovery Studio. Experience Native American culture in at The Moccasin Trail. Pretend to be a medical professional in the emergency room of Health Works or learn the laws of motion while racing balls down ramps and through loops in Roller Coaster Alley.
The rooftop "Sky Level" offers a bird's eye view of surrounding Winchester and in the warmer months, is a special oasis for gardening activities and outdoor games.
At the Discovery Museum to touch is to explore, to explore is to discover, and to discover is to learn.
Hours: Tuesday-Saturday 9:00-5:00; Sunday 1:00-5:00
The museum is free to all on the First Friday of every month, from 5-7:30pm.
