The Gold Mining Camp Museum at Monroe Park is the only museum in Virginia solely dedicated to the history of gold and gold mining. Located in Goldvein, Virginia, it is a recreational place to relax and learn about local history and gold.
Open Wednesday through Saturday 9:30 to 5:00 and Sunday noon to 4:00.
Learn about the different mining techniques and try your hand at panning for the Motherlode! Ideal for groups, such as, school, scouts, civic, home school, etc.
Free daily panning demonstrations begin March 16 at 2:00 pm (with an additional session at 10 am on Saturday) and run to November, weather permitting. If you are lucky you may go home with some gold and the appreciation of what life was like as a miner long ago.
