The Yorktown Victory Center, a museum of the American Revolution, chronicles America’s struggle for independence, from the beginnings of unrest to the formation of the new nation.

A newly acquired 1730s portrait of Ayuba Suleiman Diallo, enslaved for a time in the North American colonies, is on exhibit at the Yorktown Victory Center through August 3, 2014.  Exhibits provide accounts of the Revolution and describe the convergence of forces on Yorktown in 1781. The Declaration of Independence Gallery features a rare early broadside printing of the Declaration dating to July 1776, before a handwritten copy on parchment was signed by members of Congress. Outdoors, historical intepreters engage visitors in everyday life of the Revolution in re-creations of a Continental Army encampment and 1780s farm.

Special events include "Arms & Artillery" theme month in August, "Yorktown Victory Celebration" October 18-19, "Foods and Feasts of Colonial Virginia" Nov. 27-29, and "A Colonial Christmas" in December.

The Yorktown Victory Center continues to welcome visitors daily as it transforms over the next few years into the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.

Administered by the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and supported by Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, Inc., for private fund development.
