Calfee Park was built in 1935 as a depression era WPA project and is presently listed on the State and National Historic Landmarks Register.  The ballpark is best known for hosting Appalachian League baseball games during the summer.  In addition to these minor league games, select high school and college baseball games are played at the park during the spring season as well as an occasional concert, festival or exhibit thrown in from time to time.
