Both a tourist attraction and a travel convenience, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel connects the Virginia mainland at Virginia Beach near Norfolk with Virginia's Eastern Shore. This 17.6 mile toll facility is an award-winning engineering marvel and is considered one of the seven man-made wonders of the world. Direct crossing time is approximately 25 minutes. A bayside restaurant, gift shop and 625-foot fishing pier are located on the southernmost island (Buses Welcome!). Virginia Originals and Chesapeake Grill hours are 7 am to 7 pm, mid-September through mid-May; and 6 am to 10 pm, mid-May through mid-September. Closed Christmas Day. Bus parking is available at the north and south toll plaza and at scenic stop on the southenmost island. Restrooms. E-ZPass accepted.
