Baseball in Danville goes back many years. Local residents remember going to see the Danville Leafs back in the 1950s, who were at the time a Giants affiliate. Baseball returned to Danville in 1993 with the Danville Braves. The Braves are proud to call Legion Field home, nestled in the 170 aces of Dan Daniel Memorial Park. Surrounding the stadium are picnic shelters, nature trails, and youth athletic fields.
In just 20 years, the Danville Braves have developed into a winning organization both on and off the field. Teaming community involvement with on-field success have made the Braves an integral member of the Danville community. Many current Major Leaguers have started there career with the Danville Braves, including current Altanta Braves Craig Kimbrel, Jason Heyward, and Andrelton Simmons. In addition to the individual succes, the Braves have brought home two Appalachian League Championships. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the return of baseball to Danville, and we hope you'll make plans to join in the celebration!
